Advertisingmentation

I can't decide which is my favourite.

Is contemporary advertising really any different? Praps a little less clunky...

Animation Friday

make animated gif

Here is my wonderful Ziggy having just graded successfully for his yellow with white stripe belt in CarrotAY!! We were so proud and he was so proud of himself - as you can see.

Animation Friday is fun!! You could do it too! Have a look over at My Poppet to see what it's all about.

This moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savour and remember. - Soule Mama

And the dish ran away with the...

This lovely book, 'Spoon' by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Scott Magoon (I have to mention the authors' names because last time I posted about a book, one of the authors commented! It made my day and it must be nice for those authors with google alerts to know their books are being read. And more importantly, purchased. $$ ), arrived this morning as part of the book swap project organised by Zoe. It's just lovely. Look at Spoon's family.

And of course, they cuddle and spoon.

Many thanks to my swap partner, Amy.

This also arrived this morning:

I'm interested in anything about constructions of gender, particularly after having Saskia. I'm finding it to be quite a different parenting experience. For many reasons. Some pink-related. (That's a link to an excellent piece by Monica Dux. See? Maybe she has google alerts too. Or just googles herself.) And some just second-child related. And some just 'omg - I'd forgotten about this'-related.

We've started solids - Saskia had punking for wunch. It's messy. I'd forgotten about that. The interrupted sleep. I'd forgotten about that. The chubby arms. I'd forgotten about them. The sweet gurgles, chuckles, squeals and chortles. I'd forgotten about them.

I've started my Christmas present shopping. And I do mean my Christmas present shopping.  I know. I'm pretty organised.

I've just ordered this from here:

Frankie magazine's 'Spaces'.

It may just be the undoing of me. I will probably implode with envy, inspiration and beauty sensory overload. I'll let you know how I go.

I'm Miffed!

I have painted my toenails blue. Because I'm very groovy. Well, actually, because I tried these on the other day:

image via and better view and other nice clogs

(Say Ugglebo (oogleboo, oogleyboo, oogleyboogley, oogleyboogleybooby) over and over. See? You sound Swedish.)

At this store:

I know. I KNOW! And it is as wonderful as the name suggests - NordLiving.

But I didn't purchase them because they were NOT 50 sensis. I wonder if Santa accepts Mastercard.

My feet have collapsed or imploded or something since being pregnant with Saskia. The podiatrist has told me I have high arches. These were good things when I was 10 and wanted to be a ballerina but now I say things like 'my freakin' feet are freakin' killing me'. (I'm a groovy bogan though.) The podiatrist told me I shouldn't wear ballet flats, thongs or any other shoe that makes one happy. The podiatrist also told me that Kumfs are doing a 'really cool' range now. I took one look at her shoes...

But Kumfs are now Zeira and they're not so bad. These could possibly look ok 'on the foot' as the salesladies say (think about that one - 'on the foot' - they are just feeding me lines):

Luckily I don't have a shoe fetish, evidenced by the fact I live in Birkenstocks. Though I seem to be developing an oogleyboogleyboobyboo fetish. Clogs - I know, I'm on the cutting edge. Of last year. Are they comfortable? They certainly felt comfortable and supportive and blue patent leather!

And now for some recent ope shopeing news.

Hawthorn Salvos

I found some nice silky wool, or woolly silk, to wind around these spools.

$1.99 each Hawthorn Salvos

Miffy, cute little bunny. I don't know how we've managed to fail owning any Miffy books until now - I think we must have libraryed them for Zig. Now we have two! I loved Miffy when I was little. Before she became all Kawaii-ed.

I left the shop and then was compelled to return and purchase this Royal Doulton plate.

$5 Hawthorn Salvos

The husbandido has gone for his Sunday ride, out to Kinglake this morning (100kms - insano, or just really really fit!) And here are what the small people are doing while I write this post:

Drooling

Drooling. And destroying brain cells.

Ziggy, like his father, is unable to watch television with his mouth closed.

And if you've ever wondered what I look like, here's a photo of me feeding Saskia:

Have a look over at Sophie's for more thrifty finds.

Try a New Angle

The triangle motif seems ubiquitous at the moment (I don't really like the word ubiquitous, because it's a bit, well, I'm going to have to use it again...) but it comes in handy sometimes. Have you seen all the triangles?

Both works are by Korean artist Dae-Hyun Jeong. I saw these via Pip. And then I saw this loveliness:

I like them and was inspired to make these:

I was going for a Mondrian aesthetic.

I'm not a true creative but we had fun with this window art stuff and stuck them on a mirror for Saskia. It didn't turn out quite the same as in my imaginings, but fun nonetheless.

Then we made some other shapes and mixed them up.

We'll transfer them to a window soon.

And here are some gorgeous bebby gel clothings I found at Vinnies in Kew (Kew Vinnies again! It's too much!). All in perfect, barely-worn condition from Marks & Sparks and UK Next and Zara. Ranging from $1- $5. I KNOW!! Go there - there is still a rackload full. All from the same source. I could tell by the scent of the washing powder.

And some peggywegs that we might turn into little persons:

$2 - Vinnies in Kew

And two sweet frames - bakelite? I can't tell - into which I have popped some photos of Saskia. For the first time since she arrived.

Mont Albert - Kindlian oppy

The bottom picture has been painted in lovely metallics. I'm going to find a new frame for it.

And a good old-fashioned telephoning. Yip Yip BrrrrrrING!

PLAY! Design for Kids

image via

Just look at this gorgeous ringbound calendar - a project initiated by Hamburg based EIGA Design.

image via

It is the work of 53 designers and architects who combine concept and design with the joy of play!

image via

The focus in the ‘Kids Edition’ of the design calendar series is on the experimental handling of typography.

image via

The designers and architects commissioned by EIGA have given their playful side free reign and produced scripts inspired by their children or their own childhood days.

What a CROCK!

This book, 'Iggy Peck, Architect' by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts, was recommended to me after I posted about this book:

We love Iggy, Ziggy loves Iggy - it's an absolute delight! Just have a look at Iggy's parents:

I know architects who look exactly like this!

Saskia didn't love Iggy so much.

But then I gave a brief overview of contemporary architectural styles in the form of a mime...

Rumplestiltskin wove her hair out of straw by the way.

I found a crock pot at Vinnies in Hawthorn a couple of days ago.

I already own a crock pot.

Don't ask me.

Would anyone like a crock pot?

Dad O' Mine

I'm playing around with my header so please 'bear with me' as they say in call centres...

Here's something funny:
