The drug of the nation

Is a 9-month-old too young for Play School? I think not. The tv miraculously turned itself on this morning as I was vacuuming and Play School was on. I took it as a sign and thought I'd leave it on to see what Saskia made of it.

The same dead-eyed mouth-breathing television-watching expression as her father and brother.

Waving to Leah

Getting settled in for some
wholesome & educational viewing

So, we have a new morning ritual methinks. (They say you're more relaxed with the second child. We didn't let Zig watch la televizeeonne until he had turned 1.)

I loved watching Play School with Zig. I used to enjoy Matt Passmore.

But then I've always loved Play School. Even as a teenager.

Look how my interior stylisationing becomes appropriated by a small boy for his own use.

Those West German 'Onion' vases are quite handy as a makeshift Frankenstein's lab. I have more of them in other colours. Remember? Lava Lovers Anonymous.

In the Kitchen at Parties

The very talented Liz Jones from Betty Jo Designs, Lino Forest etc. has a new blog!

You Will Always Find Me... is an homage to all things kitcheny and is right up my small sidestreet.

A recent post about vintage kitchen dresses revealed these lovely things:

Here is my lovely, artfully arranged (yes, it always looks like this) vintage kitchen dresser:

Do you have an overly stylised vintage kitchen dresser? I'd like to see it.

And while we're on lino, I thought of Betty Jo when I came upon the old nursery at Grandpa's Bruny Island farm.

Just look at these gorgeous old barkcloth curtains:

And look at this:

And then look at this lino:

Perhaps I'll ask if the lino can be salvaged for Miss Betty Jo once the renovations begin.

If you're into the heart of the home etc. visit You Will Always Find Me... and grab a nice vintage souvenir tea towel and help me with the dishes while you're there.

The morning after

I'm sure this bubba was riding the hobby horse of shame the following morning.

Just disgraceful.

Animation Friday

make avatar

It's proving rather hard to get a non-blurred shot of the Little Miss. She can't stop dancing since she's discovered how to pull herself to standing. (See? I'm blaming the camera again. And blaming Little Miss - she does it to upset me.)

And the speed of her - she is a little Looney Tunes blur of limbs.

Do you like what I've done with her hair?

Have a look over at My Poppet to play along with Friday Animation.

How low can you go?

image via

We've been in limbo land these last four or so months.

Though, more this kind of limbo:

Not quite as fun, or as dangerous, as the first.

Firstly, waiting to hear if we're off to live in another country, and now waiting to hear when we're off to live in another country.

That country is this one:

That's right, the long slim one called Chillay.

Husbandido is determined to live out his dream of Paso Dobleing to work.

It's very exciting but (yes, I'm going to whinge) it has been incredibly unsettling.

And I haven't been ope shopeing - remember all that chatter about decluttering etc.? I'm only beginning to realise just how much joy it gave me. Ridikkalus!

And, wah waah waaaah. Boo be hoo.

An exciting opportunity for growth, adventure, discovery etc. and all I can do is complain.

Hope Santiago has ope shopes...

A flea market will suffice.

We went to Bruny Island during the school holidays to visit Grandpa on his new farm.

We ate these:

I'll tell you more about our trip - Bruny is something else - once I stop feeling sorry for myself.
