My creative space and a celebration
Playing along again with 'my creative space'. The above is my place of creation. Not like that - apparently I was conceived in New Zealand - but the 'space' of creationing. Where I store me stuff and where I type creative things.
It is our wedding anniversary today. Twelve years.
We got married in Vienna, as I've said before. It was initially a planned elopement, but about twenty friends and family invited themselves along. It was very special. My MIL made my dress, as I've said before. There aren't many photos and most of them are blurry (see above). It was all pretty relaxed. Picked up flowers from the market that morning etc. But wundebar memories.
Have a look at husbandido's lady hair and man bag. It's actually a camera. His suit is a three piece Christian Dior we found in an ope shope! And look at my 'Rachel from Friends' hair.
Those photos were taken in the gardens of the Schonbrunn Palace.
Happy Anniversary Husbandido. I call you husbandido because you are a heart bandit.
We've actually remembered this year and are going out for a glass of champagne tonight. We might go here. And then go home and watch Inspector Rex.

Our morning walk
Saskia's quite the walker these days. Look at her determined gait.
And she has a new face that she generously proffers to most people - Miss Frowny Face.
Here are some of the things we see on our morning walks.
We live in a rather poshe area. Lots of Boom Style. A lot of stunning established gardens.
A pink mansion. A house for giant dolls.
A Frank Lloyd Wrightish houseish. No? Just the roof then.
I love the two above because of their widow's walks.
This is my favourite though.
The first of the daffydills proffering not frowny faces.
Look at this beautiful Camellia.
We live in a mansion.
I found it in an ope shope!!

Happy is the home that welcomes a stupid amount of Lego
Only a few ope shope purchases recently.
The green doily for sitting atop the piahno and a couple of sweet Holly Hobbies.
The vase reads: 'Happy is the home that welcomes a friend'
And the trinket jar thing reads: 'A true friend is the best possession'
I'm not sure about you but I don't like to think I 'own' my friends. I suppose it was the 70s...
This plastic canister for storing Lego.
Lego.
There is a stupid amount of Lego in this house. Well, in one particular room. My bet is that if you have a small male person under the age of 10, there is probably a stupid amount of Lego in your house too?
These overalls for Sassykah.
They had an ugly teddy bear patch on the front which I very cleverly removed. I know.
And this walking toy.
But she was more interested in the 'RAINBOWS!!' than posing with the walking toy.
I received this lovely tray in the post ("This one's wet, this one's wet, this one's wet...") from the kooky Geminian Sonia from Rain & Sage. A purple flamingo. Gorgeous!
Moments like this don't last very long.

Mantelpiece Monday
I'm playing along with Estelle over at Fortune Favours the Thrifty who has the very cute idea to pimp your mantelpiece and then show orf about it.
Estelle and I are very similar. We have the same birthday, we love the ope shopes and we live in houses where the only place with decent light to take a photo is the mantelpiece.
You do it too!

My creative space
I'm playing along with 'my creative space' for the first time. Please go and have a look over here - there are some pretty impressive creation spations.
This is a scarf for little Sarssywarssywoo. I've knitted on and off most of my life but I probably need to venture beyond garter.
Although it may be warm, a hacked off sleeve from one of my old cashmere sweaterrrs isn't really cutting it.
It is proving nigh on impossible to get a non-blurry shot of this little dynamo.

Is there anything better than cauliflower cheese?
Well, alright, there is.
But isn't it delicious? We had pork chops, roasted vegetables and cauliflower cheese for dinner last night. And I'm having the leftovers for wunch.
I make a variation on Stephanie's white sauce by throwing in some fennel seeds instead of cooked fennel. So yummy and comforting on cold days.
Cauliflower - quite beautiful if you look closely.

Czech, Czech - 1, 2...
Not much ope shopeing go(pe)ing on around here of late. I'm not quite sure what I've been doing, but I've been busy.
There have been quite a few birthdays to celebrate recently, including the husbandido's. Do you have a lot of Geminians in your life? I seem to have an inordinate number in mine. And the 'lovely' thing about Geminis is you get two for the price of one. So you could say I'm a bigamist. I'm married to Nancy and 'evil twin Nancy'.
I found the crocheted string bag for 50 sensis at the Holy Trinity ope shope in Kew! It's too sweet to use so it's just hanging around looking holeyier than thou. I have taken it shopping with me once though and felt all 'shopping in a quaint European village market'.
Look at this gorgeous book:
And the freshly-picked dew-covered violets.
| pub. 1969 |
See? Their arms make a wuv heart.
The evil sheilas.
Her name is Dornischka. Doorrrrneeesssshhkah. Love it!
Say that, then say this: Dvorak! Deeevoorrrzshack!
How Bohemian.
Like Oobi's piano teacher, Inka. Do you know her? Grampu had a big crush on her and would fall apart when she would visit.

Ziggy LOVED Oobi. I loved Oobi. I'm looking forward to introducing Oobi to Saskia.

This moment
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savour and remember. - Soule Mama

'I am a jelly-filled doughnut!'*
Sometimes you just need to watch a 'laughing baby', 'talking dog' or 'politician losing his business' video to cheer yourself up a little.
I love the fact that it is the absurdity of the bureaucratese making him laugh. And his attempts to compose himself and continue. And the fact that it's about sausages.
*This explains the silly post title. I always thought Kennedy had unknowingly said 'I am a sausage!' until I was wikiclarified.

Alright, I'm Geoff Vader.
I will kill you with a flowery tray.
If you haven't seen this (WHAT?!) please watch it. (Warning! Warning! Language warning.) I love Eddie Izzard so much. He's playing a psychology professor in United States of Tara at the moment. Do you watch that show? It's just been axed. I know!
I don't know how many times I have watched this clip. Actually I now remember I have posted it once before.
Some wee tins to add to the collection.
A book for Ziggidywig. Although Father Nancy seems to be enjoying it much more than the intended recipient.
Another one of these jars which I'm having a bit of trouble identifying. (This one is missing its lid, but I don't mind.) I have been told they are Japanese and date from the 1950s. If you know please impart your wisdom this way.
That red one is a bit dusty.
I have a large blue one missing also missing his hat.
See the buttons?
I'm playing along with Sophie and Apron Thrift Girl.
