Chopin Liszt

You've all probably seen this already because everybody in blogland reads Pip's blog - right? Unless of course, you're hip and groovy and saw it on Rage three months ago or something.

But I liked it so much - her freckle jacket, the groovy young kids and their groovy dancing. I like to think if I was young now, I'd be groovy like this, but that's highly unlikely.

For a start I use the word groovy. (I'd probably still be in the Sacred Music Choir and wearing my mother's clothes.).

And I've managed to construct a shopping list whilst watching it.

I have a lot of news to share. I'll be sharing it soon. (That's kind of annoying isn't it?)

Pour myself a cup of ambition

image via

I worked in a proppah office environment today. There were a lot of people. I'm not really used to a lot of people.

I felt a bit like Jack from Room. Going back tomorrow.

Then we're going somewhere exciting for a long weekend. Somewhere exciting.

Will tell you all about it. Soon.

Easy rubbish (2011) part 2

I can't help myself. But look! A new desk chair.

And look again! A lampshade.

And two directors chairs. See? Are you looking?

And finally. A huuuge National Geographic map of the world (1995). It was still in its plastic wrapping.

Easy rubbish (2011)

I love it when hard rubbish delivers. When you need something and then, lo and behold, you find it! It's almost like proper shopping.

I wanted a table and chairs for Saskia.

We found a table. And chairs.

We needed a new kitchen bin.

I found a spotless new kitchen binage.

I wanted a suitcase for storage.

I found a (rather ugly) suitcase. But it's spotless and will do the trick.

Hard rubbish! No parking. No crowds. No foodcourt. No overwhelming indecisiveness due to an abundance of choice.

Result!

Bright light, bright light

Sorry, I have taken to my bed with a meegrayne. I will be back anon.

In the meantime, here is a song:

Grace under pressure

It's hard rubbish time again round these here parts. I'm trying to resist gleaning as we'll be (finally) packing up this house and moving soon and we're culling the kwap. But I couldn't help picking up this sweet bowl and sideplate from a box of crockery last night. If they won't fit in the new house I'll just smash 'em!

I watched Woody Allen's latest film, Midnight in Paris, last night. Mr Allen, as we all know, can be a bit hit and miss, but this was a pure joy. Even Owen Wilson as Woody Allen was great.

Lovely idea, gorgeous costumes, interiors etc. I could go on about Paris being a character etc. but I won't.

I am also tempted to give a feminist critique, but I won't do that either.

And I have a new crush.

Corey Stoll as Ernest Hemingway is a heartstopper. And hilarious.

God jul och gott nytt år

Yes, well it could be that time of year again - all the ope shopes are putting out their Christmas decorations.

I purrchased a candle, some garlands and a traditional Swedish decoration.

See the Swedish star chimes? And the bougies? (I'm practising for Alexander.)

Zig greeted me with this at Monday afternoon pickup:

'I have something very embarrassing to tell you.'

     'Oh sweetheart, tell me.'

     'I'm into girls again. I F.E.L.L  I.N. L.O.V.E today.'

He has continued spelling it out for us.

SO embarrassing.

This morning

how to make gif

Yay! Clap hands!!

Here is the house Grandpa and Jenny bought Sassykah for her birthday a few months ago. She lurves it. As does Professor Chomsky. There are doors and windows to open and close. Open and close. Open and close.

(You'd think she could run that mower over the lawn every now and then though.)

Pardon?! Show a little more pride in the domestic sphere?

Thank you.

What's that I hear?

Zoom, zoom, a zoomer zoom zoom.

A bit tired and serious this morning.

Nice bloguers

See all this lovely wallpaper given to me by the lovely Estelle? One of the wonderful resultant friendships from having this blogue.

If I get into gear I may just use some of it for the dolls's's's house.

Have a look at the progress of these bloguers' dolls's's's houses:

    *Makeminemid-century

    *Blackbird has spoken

Both of them so clever. And inspiring.

But not inspiring enough for someone as lazybones as me.

And speaking of other bloguers, Brismod has a lamp like the one that lives on Ziggy's desk. But only better. (And appropriated.)

Is this no longer in the Zeitgeist?

image via

Do you know Maria Bamford? I've been trying to choose the best clip to demonstrate her genius but this is proving very difficult and time consuming and my children need some food.

I saw her earlier this year at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and I laughed so much my face hurt. You know what I mean.

But here are a couple of clips and then you're on your own.

And now watch this:

Vintage Moomins - swoonin'

My lovely friend, Fiona, unearthed these vintage Moomin toys from an old suitcase - I know! Vintage Moomin toys! From an old suitcase!

They were hers when she was little - she said they're from the '60s. Bought from a Scandinavian shop in Melbourne at the time.

I wonder what happened to that Scandinavian shop.

The Moomin family and the Hemulens are made from the softest white leather.

Just look at them!

And these have little wooden heads. Grumpy Little My.

I came over a little breathless when she beckoned me with her little crooked pointy finger - "Come and look at this. You'll like this."

!!!!!

So now her sons (and my Ziggy!) are enjoying them. Look at the Fillyjonks!

Again with the Narcissism

The SBS show Insight last night repeated an episode about narcissism. I love Jenny Brockie

I'm going to watch in online here

Those pesky life-destroying narcissists...

Alpha Chart

I'm trying to give this piece of gorgeousness a new home - our home.

image via
 It's for sale on Gumtree.

I'll let you know if this endeavour is a success. If it is not to be does anyone know where I could find something similar? A vintage style alphabet chart?

The interwebs you say?

An OPE SHOPE? Why that's just crayayzeeee...

The cinema on my own - not Twilight

The husbandido has left today for a conference in Addylaid and I took the opportunity last night to have some 'moi time' as he's not back until Friday.

There's nothing I love more than sloping off to the local cinema in my trackies and uggies and horrifying the old pearl-clutching dears who make up the majority of said gorgeous deco cinema's clientele.

Crazy, Stupid, Love was ok. I absolutely love Steve Carell (and oh my! - he looks good in black) and he was ok. Julianne Moore was compelling and simultaneously irritating and ok. Ryan Gosling was ok but he could have left his shirt on. And Emma Stone is pretty gorgeous. Good cast. Some good lines. An ok-not-as-funny-as-I-expected film. David?

But... it's great to get out on my ownsome.

This song was included on the soundtrack. I like this song.

Now, off for self-sacrificing martyrdom...

The full treatment

'What nooow?'

This morning we finally got around to doing this:

To prevent a determined little person's insistence on doing this:

Then time for a hot stone massage.

Well, a bath at least.

Hippy Birdy to me

After much jollility yesterday (margaritas, champagne and yes, the guitar came out for a good old-fashioned sing along) with friends and evil step-sisters, I spent all of this morning and quite a bit of this afternoon in bed reading my birthday present. It's absolutely hilarious. You should read it.
Husbandido brought me french pastries, tea, coffee and toast.

I received many kisses and cuddles from my small people.

I have requested an e-reader (more presents), most likely this one:

So, a perfect day. Thank you loved ones.

The Angry Cows

 Look!

Cows!

(Aside) Albeit rather unusual cows.

Let's have a closer look.

Yes - most definitely cows.

Would you like some grass, Miss Cow?

There's something not quite right about these cows.

Where are the udder cows? The normal ones?

Right, that's it. I'm orf.

No. I won't hear it. I'm still orf.

Oh, what lovely erbees.

Saskia and I hung out in the sculpture park and the kitchen garden today at the magnificently beautiful Heide Museum of Modern Art while Ziggy was at a school holiday programme cartooning workshop. (Sorry, long sentence. It's late. I must get some kind of editor to look at it...)

Yes, that bag made by Grandmama is vintage Bauhaus by Liberty fabric. She made one for husbandido and his brother when they were little jungen.

If you're ever in Melbourne (or live in Melbourne and have never been) please please please make sure you visit Heide.
