Snow worries

We had some snow in these here parts recently. We drove out into the nearby mountains (a 35 minute drive) to see some. And eat some. There wasn't much to begin with and there wasn't much left by the time we got our gear together (the toboggan - yes, we took the toboggan just in case). But it was an absolutely beautiful warm day and the mountains and bush are stunning.

We even managed to build a snowman!

Saskia saw snow for the first time. And Sassykah ate quite a lot of that snow.

Look at all that snow!!

We'll go again, rest assured. Maybe up into the real mountains.

These mountains aren't too far from us. Have I told you I was born near these mountains? I, too, could have been an Olympic snowboarder. If I had applied myself. And worked hard. And had a goal. Ha!!

We used to ski a lot when I was young, as you can imagine, but the idea of skiing now is, for many reasons, laughable. Old bones, moulah, the expense, moulah etc.

I've bought a new doll's's house. This is the third dolls'ss' house we've brought home in the last year.

This was the first.

I did this to it and then gave up and put it in the hard rubbish.

Then I found this one at the tip shop a couple of months ago and it's about to return from whence it did cometh. (It is very heavy.)

But the latest discovery from the ope shope is perfect and I am committed. (See? Determination, goal setting, hard work...)

Mod Podge madness - begin!

We need to talk

Melbum was excellent. It's only after having returned that I realised just how much I needed a little holiday on my ownsome. I'm relaxed and my jaw isn't crunching quite so badly as before.

I caught up with evil stepsisters, lovely friends, gorgeous sisters-in-law and leetle nieces for pieces. I had some hairs cut, I ate some dumplings and some more dumplings. And some pork buns.

Had a massage, went to the NGV, went to a premiere at the MIFF, caught some trams and drank some decent coffee.

I also spent some mind-boggling time here:

Gosh! It doesn't have a website.

You all know it. I know you do. But really, it's worth talking about, non?

I didn't buy a single thing! Bit spency. Not ope shope prices. I was a bit overwhelmed and made a quick exit back home to my wicked stepsister's house for a glass of champagne and lots of chats about our feelings.

Spy anything you like?

I'm dreaming in a Texan accent

image via

I've been watching this excellent show. Actually, skip the second season, it's ridiculous. But the first was great - I blubbed the entire way through - and the third is just as good.

I am crushing on Kyle Chandler in a most worrying fashion. Coach Taylor is so serious and intense and yet his eyes are so smiley.

And Coach Taylor and Principal Taylor's marriage is so machurre. They listen to each other and respect each other. They apologise when they've messed up. Watching this show is kind of like marriage therapy.

Husbandido is watching the Olympics...

But that's ok, I'm more than happy to watch it all again with him once we've had a really machurre discussion about it.

It's all just so wholesome and Texan, addressing social issues and stuff. And just a wee bit conservative, but I can respect that.

But... their marriage is not real. It's a tv show.

Clear eyes, Full hearts, Can't lose!

I love these behind-the-scenes shots.

And these images. From an unrelated crush.

You mean the rubbish dump?

See? This is why I love the tip shop. I check their Facebook page every morning to see what's come in.
The Le Creuset set was posted this morning. One has lost his little hat, but no matter as they're asking $100. Yes.

If today were any other day I'd be out there in a shot. But today is the day before tomorrow. And tomorrow I'm off to Melbum for four days. Sans l'enfants. C'est vrai. Sans l'enfants. And sans husbandido. So I'll keep that $100 for Melbum.

But really. I'm tempted. Should I dash out there? And have fewer glasses of wine while in Melbum? Or have only half a haircut? Just eat dumplings all weekend? (Actually, I could easily do that.)

Here are some other recent things from Tiny's Green Shed.

I was too late for the vase on the right. There'll more though, I'm sure.

All images are from Tiny's Green Shed's Facebook page. Have a look!

And these are just the things that I find appealing. There would be something for you. Fosho.

I just hope I'm not breaking some Canberran code by relaying this information.  Although most people give me very strange looks when I voice my enthusiasm for the tip shop. (I have no doubt that ASIO is monitoring this.)

Canberra, like all places, I know, has its own particular cultural etiquette. Here are some words that I can't be bothered stringing into coherent sentences because I shouldn't be blogging, I should be doing other things:

public service
small country town
weather
hyper self-consciousness due to those words above these words you're reading right now

(wow lack of punctuation is quite liberating isn't it look forward to some angry poetry soon)

Praps you could make some sentences for me.

See you in Melbum!
